About the library

The four campus libraries at the University for the Creative Arts house the University's book, journal and audio-visual collections as well as archival and special collections material. The collection strengths at each campus library reflect the course and research specialisms of this established creative arts university.

The collections include books, journals, DVDs, Blu-ray, streamed audio and video, still and moving images, digital games, theses, dissertations and archival and special collections material.

Library collection highlights include: specialist journals for architecture and art and design disciplines; advertising, graphic design and photography annuals; exhibition catalogues from both UK-based and international art galleries and museums; and fashion trend publications.

Special collections by campus include:

  • Canterbury – Artists’ books and zines collection; Herbert Read Collection.
  • Epsom – Artists’ book collection.
  • Farnham – Artists’ book collection; UCA bookRoom collection; Bob Godfrey collection.
  • Rochester – Urban Fox Press collection; Tessa Boffin collection.

Accessing materials

Can I see live document availability on Library Hub Discover? Yes.

Can I obtain items via inter-library loan? Yes - subject to the library's local lending policy. Email the document supply team for details. You must request an inter-library loan via a library of which you are a member. Talk to your own library staff for advice on ordering an item.

Can I visit the library to view materials? Yes - see the library's website for access details. If you wish to visit it is advisable to contact the library in advance, to ensure that they can accommodate you and that the material you need will be available.
