About the library

The Library is at the heart of Solent University's main campus in Southampton city centre. It is a busy, modern library that has a range of studying environments and considerable IT facilities. Its collection is focused on supporting Solent's University's teaching and research, and totals 140,000 printed items in addition to a significant collection of ebooks and ejournals. The library's special collections (not included in Library Hub Discover; see Jisc's Archives Hub instead) include archival material relating to the careers of film director Ken Russell and writer Philip Mackie.

Accessing materials

Can I see live document availability on Library Hub Discover? Yes.

Can I obtain items via inter-library loan? Yes - subject to the library's local lending policy. You must request an inter-library loan via a library of which you are a member. Talk to your own library staff for advice on ordering an item.

Can I visit the library to view materials? Yes - see the library's website for access details. If you wish to visit it is advisable to contact the library in advance, to ensure that they can accommodate you and that the material you need will be available.
